Business Administration Units: Candidates have an extensive choice of units to study on campus, supported by regular classes, excellent printed study materials and online resources. Classes for each unit are typically conducted once weekly, Monday to Friday, and are normally of 3 hours duration. Preparatory Stage Units: Candidates are provided with study materials and meet on a regular basis for tutorials. Thesis Supervision: Upon completion of the Quantitative Research Methods unit in the DBA preparatory stage, a supervisor is appointed to support the candidate for the remainder of the program, which results in the production and submission of the DBA thesis for examination. Candidates communicate regularly with supervisors via email, phone, fax, and regular face-to-face meetings. Workshops: Twice yearly, DBA candidates studying on campus and by distance in Australia and offshore, come together for structured workshops at the Tweed Gold Coast campus. The workshops provide wonderful opportunities for meeting other candidates, comparing progress, exchanging tips, exploring different research methodologies, receiving advice from experts in a broad range of research areas, confirming examination requirements, networking with business leaders and developing ongoing associations and dialogue with fellow candidates.

Candidates are assessed in each business administration unit on the basis of written and oral assignments. These may be essays, research papers, video or audio presentations, case analyses, or problem solutions. The usual weighting of assessment marks between assignments and examinations is about 50 per cent to each. Preparatory stage units are assessed through research outputs. Thesis units are not formally assessed during the thesis- writing process. The completed DBA thesis is submitted for examination to internal and external examiners appointed by the Graduate Research College.
